David Alonso chose the University of Illinois Springfield because of its location in the state capital. On campus, he is a founding members of the UIS Chapter of the Phi Alpha Delta Pre-Law Fraternity, treasurer for the UIS College Republicans and a member of the Christian Student Fellowship. Following graduation from UIS, he plans to intern as part of the Illinois Legislative Staff Internship Program and attend law school. “I legitimately am aiming to run for president in 2036, so let’s hope things work out,” he said. Alonso is also an author, having self-published his novel “Winter Wonderland,” a psychological fantasy novel, though Amazon last year. “I wrote it my sophomore year of high school and I finally decided my freshman year of college to put it out into the world,” he said.
