The UIS women's soccer team secured a shutout win over William Jewell in Liberty, Mo. on Sunday. The 2-0 victory, which saw the Prairie Stars improve to 1-1-2 on the season, was the first win as a Prairie Star for head coach Scott Myers.

  • Abby Dellamorte found the back of the net just over a minute into the contest, giving the Prairie Stars an early lead. Dellamorte's goal was set up by a precise throw in from freshman Abbie Gleason
  • In the 74th minute, Brooke Biffar sent a precise cross into the box. Kalli Drexler headed the ball to the feet of Maggie Joos, who was able to finish for a 2-0 lead
  • UIS played solid defense, thwarting William Jewell's six first-half shots and nine attempts in the second half 
  • Goalkeeper Allison Mirimanian anchored the UIS defense with eight crucial saves
