Douglas Brackney has been named the University of Illinois Springfield Employee of the Month for July 2024. He is an administrative aide in the Career Development Center.
His supervisor, Katherine Battee-Freeman, said he is the type of employee that everyone wants on their staff.
“He is a team player who brings positivity to the work and helps others to be their best selves,” Battee-Freeman said. “He is a positive role model outside of work helping to endear the greater Springfield community to UIS.”
Brackney’s nominator called him a driving force within the department.
“Doug has a tremendous attention to detail and organization,” his nominator said. “He manages a full workload of managing our office but also takes time to support others when they need assistance or support. In addition to managing office operations, Doug shares his gifts of creativity and artistry often as well.”
Brackney is known for blending his professional skills and his personal passions for the benefit of the UIS.
“Doug is a UIS alumni, and he regularly volunteers for campus activities that lets him support students beyond what is required for his job,” Battee-Freeman said. “This is displayed in his interactions with students, especially our international students and students for whom English is a second language and in his committee work which has a broader impact on our campus.”
