University of Illinois Springfield women's golfer Elaine Grant competed in the 2024 NCAA Division II National Championship this week in Winter Garden, Fla. Grant finished T63 in her career-first national tournament appearance. She was part of a 98-golfer field that played 54 holes on the Panther Lake Course at Orange County National.

The average score for the field was 74.73 in round one, 74.95 in round two, and 74.19 in the final round. 

Grant was even through the first eighteen holes of the tournament, which started Tuesday morning.  


She continued the tournament on Wednesday, carding a two-over 74 to tie for 25th with one round to play. 

Grant was even through the front nine on Thursday before facing trouble over the final holes of the tournament, for which she would score 226 (+10) and tie for 63rd place. For the tournament, the sophomore totaled 25 pars and 7 birdies.

The Chillicothe, Ill. native earned First Team All-GLVC honors this spring when she finished T3 at the league's annual championship. She went on to finish T3 at the East Regional, earning a berth to the NCAA Championship as the top individual out of the East Region.

The tournament, which will continue with medal/match play for the team title, is part of the NCAA DII Championships Festival hosted by Rollins and the Greater Orlando Sports Commission in Orlando, Florida. The festival includes championships for men's golf, men's and women's lacrosse, and softball. This format l is designed to enhance the student-athlete experience, create more awareness and exposure for Division II sports and increase attendance by having multiple championships in one location.
