The Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) started GLVC Academic Award Week by announcing its 2023-24 Academic All-Conference Team Award recipients on Monday. Eleven UIS teams earned the award for having a team GPA of 3.30 or higher, nine of which averaged above 3.50.
The UIS women's tennis team boasted the best GPA in the league, averaging 3.92 for the academic year.
Rounding out the top-five GPAs at UIS in 2023-24 were women's golf (3.77), women's soccer (3.75), men's soccer (3.62), and softball (3.60). Additional Academic All-GLVC teams were women's track & field (3.58), women's cross country (3.57), volleyball (3.55), men's golf (3.52), men's basketball (3.33), baseball (3.31).
Three Prairie Stars teams found themselves at or near the top of the conference. The UIS men's soccer team led its sport overall at 3.62, women's golf tied with Rockhurst for the best team GPA in the sport at 3.77, and women's soccer ranked second behind the Rockhurst Hawks with a 3.75 average.
