Ravneet Chhokar, director of environmental compliance and safety in Facilities and Services, has been named the University of Illinois Springfield Employee of the Month for April 2025.

“Ravneet’s cheerful and friendly attitude, along with her positive outlook, has been truly infectious throughout the unit. Her upbeat demeanor creates a welcoming environment and her respect for others shines through in every interaction,” her nominator said.

Her nominator also highlighted how she effectively works with others in her unit and across campus, creating a collaborative environment.

“She listens carefully and offers thoughtful advice to help both parties work toward a common goal,” her nominator said.

Chhokar’s supervisor, Chuck Coderko, praised her strong work ethic.

“Her efforts have made a lasting impact, creating a safer, healthier and more efficient campus environment,” Coderko said.

Coderko praises the sense of professionalism she maintains even during difficult tasks.

“Even in her challenging role of reminding colleagues about OSHA standards and safety procedures, especially when dealing with hazardous materials and potentially dangerous equipment, she approaches these conversations with care,” Coderko said.  

In addition to her professional duties, Chhokar is involved in her community, especially through her volunteer work at her daughter’s school and the Asian Indian Women Organization.
