Eric Kuchar has been named the University of Illinois Springfield Employee of the Month for April 2022. He is the assistant to the dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
Kuchar’s nominator says he “consistently demonstrates outstanding performance” and always goes “above and beyond” the tasks for his job to help out whenever needed.
“He is the first one coming in and the last one to leave the office,” said Lan Dong, his supervisor and interim dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
Since March 2020, a lot of employees have been working remotely. Kuchar covers for everyone when something needs to be done on campus or in person.
“The COVID-19 pandemic has taken a toll on many people during the past year and a half,” Dong said. “He is considerate and patient with co-workers, faculty, staff, students, and community members.”
Dong calls Kuchar’s performance “outstanding,” adding that he plans ahead, is meticulous with details and makes sure all tasks are completed on time (and in many cases ahead of schedule).
“Eric has demonstrated exemplary performance with courtesy and consideration for others,” Dong said. “He communicates with co-workers and others clearly and in a professional manner.”
He not only completes his duties ahead of schedule, but he also helps others and is willing to take on extra duties, when needed. When the office was recently short staffed, he took on additional responsibilities to make sure daily operations went smoothly.
“Eric is courteous, polite and patient with everyone that he works with or comes in contact with,” Dong said. “He consistently represents the office in such a positive way.”
