F&S Summer Highlights
Projects
F&S crews have been very busy this summer! These are a few of the projects we worked on…
Facility transformations - Construction activities have been happening this summer as part of the Facilities Transformation Renovations and Transitions
- New spaces for the Bursar, iCard, and Military & Veterans Student Services have been constructed in the lower level of UHB, with anticipated moves happening in September/October.
- In HRB, construction has taken place to prepare for the future co-location of Health Services with the Counseling Center.
- The tiered flooring in HRB 111 has been removed and new flooring is being installed for the future move of the Career Development Center from SAB to HRB.
- Remodeling has begun in WUIS to create additional space for the Cox Children's Center.
Hyflex classrooms - ITS installed new equipment as part of an exciting initiative to enhance the classroom experience. The results are a total of 34 classrooms have been converted into hyflex environments. F&S assisted ITS with assembling furniture, removing old presentation boards, and repairing and painting walls.
Kiwanis women's locker room refurbishment - In collaboration with Athletics, the Kiwanis women's locker room received a refresh this summer. Our crews installed lockers, applied fresh paint, and installed new graphics.
UIS Esports Arena- Campus Recreation had a vision for a state-of-the-art Esports venue for our students and F&S was privileged to have a role in bringing that vision into a reality. The venue is located in Founders Residence Hall, making it conveniently placed for students. Mark your calendars for the ribbon-cutting ceremony which will be held at 3:30 pm on Wednesday, September 6.
Deep Cleaning
Our BSWs have tackled special cleaning needs across campus this summer in addition to their routine cleaning duties. They have focused on deep cleaning in the restrooms while also taking care of cleaning up after the many construction and renovation projects.

New Work Order System
The new F&S work order system (Maxpanda) went live on July 1. If you haven't already tried it, click the button below to see the new request form. Please note that fields with a red asterisk are required.
Be sure to bookmark it for quick access to the system! You will also find links on the main F&S page and on our Building Maintenance page (along with tips).
Use this form to submit requests for routine maintenance and repair items, for shred bin delivery or removal, and for surplus and disposal requests. If you wish to request extensive remodeling or upgrades, you are venturing into the construction and renovation function of F&S. Visit our Construction & Renovation page for more information.
One difference that users will notice in the work request form is the inclusion of filtering. The request form has 3 fields where filtering can be done: 1) Filter By Building Group; 2) Filter by Building; and 3) Type Your Location. Using these filters will reduce the number of entries that appear in the following fields. Only the first 50 entries appear in a field when scrolling the drop-down so filtering can be very helpful in finding the building or location you need - we have a lot of buildings and rooms on this campus!
Filter By Building Group – Several options are available, but the most commonly used are:
- Residential (student housing)
- Academic (BRK, BSB, Cox Child Care, HSB, HRB, Field Stations, Police, PAC, SAB, SLB, UHB, VPA, WUIS, etc.)
- Auxiliaries (Student Union, TRAC)
- Athletic Facilities (Baseball Complex, Kiwanis Field House, Tennis Courts, etc.)
- Parking Lots
- Roadways
Filter By Building – Select the building by scrolling or by typing the first part of the building name or the name abbreviation (i.e., BRK for Brookens). Once the correct building appears, click on it to select it. Remember the drop-down only shows the first 50 entries.
Type Your Location - Simply type the room number to find your location. If you need a room that does not have a number, type a portion of the description, such as restroom, and then scroll through the selections. This field works best after using the Filter by Building field.

Classroom Scheduling for Fall 2023
For courses meeting on ground for Fall 2023, room assignments have been completed and are listed in the dynamic course schedule.

Meeting Room Scheduling
Multiple small meeting rooms are located around campus that faculty and staff can self-schedule. Room capacities vary from 9 to 16 occupants - individual room capacities are viewable in the scheduling tool.
Meeting room hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Please note that food and beverages are not permitted.

Parking Hang Tag Distribution Schedule
Come see us at the Student Union on one of these dates and times to pick up your parking hang tag! Please bring a photo ID and your electronic receipt.

Did you forget to purchase a parking hang tag? Visit our Parking Hang Tag Application to purchase yours today!
After September 1, contact us to schedule an appointment to pick up your parking hang tag. We are out and about frequently and the appointment will ensure someone is in the Parking Operations office when you're ready to pick up your tag.
