For employee awareness, the following message from UIS Counseling and Health Services was sent to all students via email about their resources and services offered during the spring semester:

Hello Students,

The Spring semester is here, and we are excited to have you with UIS. During the semester, take time to check in with yourself and see how you are feeling. Engage in small acts to keep your mental health strong like attending a social event, enjoying a meal with friends, signing up for recreational sports, taking a yoga class, getting restful sleep, or cheering on our UIS Prairie Stars. UIS also offers a variety of support services including the Counseling Center and Health Services. For more information check out the resources page on the Counseling Center website.

Early intervention can lead to better outcomes. Mental health screenings can help you identify symptoms early before they become more significant issues. You can access an anonymous and free mental health screening online. This option is always open and available for all students.

Remember you are not alone. In an effort to foster connection, UIS partners with Togetherall, a free and confidential online community designed to support your mental health and well-being. Togetherall offers a safe space to connect with others and find the support you need.

If you need additional support, please contact the UIS Counseling Center, 217-206-7122 or counseling@uis.edu. To schedule an appointment, you can call, email, walk-in, or web book. The Counseling Center provides free services to on-campus students. Online only students can reach out to the Counseling Center for assistance in finding local support services in your area.

It’s that time of year for seasonal illnesses. Cold, flu, COVID-19, and RSV tend to increase during this time of year as we engage in more indoor activities. For more information on symptoms, visit our online resources. If you are experiencing any symptoms, please remember the three C’s. Cover your nose and mouth, Clean your hands, and Contain your germs by staying home when you are symptomatic. To schedule an appointment with UIS Health Services, you can call (217-206-6676), email (healthservice@uis.edu), walk-in or web book. We strongly encourage students to stay up to date with your vaccines.

Thank you for your attention to these important matters. Together, we can foster a compassionate community that prioritizes well-being. Let’s continue to support one another and create an environment where everyone feels valued and heard. If you have any questions or need further assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
