As part of the necessary plumbing infrastructure renovation project scheduled to begin this summer in the Public Affairs Center, Facilities & Services is working in collaboration with multiple campus partners to ensure a smooth transition process in operations. From June 2025 to September 2026, several units currently located in the PAC will temporarily pause or relocate their operations to other campus spaces due to the drilling and pipe excavation activities.
UIS Bookstore Relocation to FRH
The UIS Bookstore will temporarily relocate from PAC 1120 to classrooms 153 and 154 in Founders Residence Hall (FRH), near the UIS Esports Arena. This move is set to transpire the week of March 10, with a goal of resuming large-scale operations in FRH by March 31 to continue to serve our students and the campus community for the remainder of the spring semester.
What to Expect During Bookstore Transition
- March 10: The moving process begins with books and merchandise being transferred from PAC 1120 to FRH 153 and 154.
- March 31: The Bookstore resumes operations at large capacity in its temporary location.
- Service Continuity: The UIS Bookstore and F&S are committed to minimizing service disruptions. During this transition period, the Bookstore will continue to provide necessary course materials and other essential items to students. For questions about Bookstore operations, please contact Kaitlyn Cook, UIS Bookstore manager, at k.cook@follett.com. Details regarding the Bookstore’s move back to PAC 1120 will be made available at a later date.
Looking Ahead
F&S greatly appreciates our campus community’s patience, understanding and support as we collectively undertake this necessary improvement. This project is a necessary investment in the PAC’s infrastructure to ensure we have modernized and reliable systems for years to come.
Please watch for future communication regarding updates and other unit transitions happening on campus because of this project. For immediate questions, please contact Bob Mitchell, director of construction, at rmmtchll@uis.edu or (217) 206-6730.
