This April, join us on a field trip to the Therkildsen Field Station (TFSE) and the wetland restoration at the Emiquon Preserve to explore teaching and research opportunities.

Opportunities are not limited to the physical and natural sciences:

Themes and topics surrounding the restoration can provide a backdrop for an assortment of discussions touching on the environment, conservation, economics, policy, psychology, history, anthropology, nature writing, photography, and a suite of other disciplines. The TFSE provides logistical support for these endeavors with laboratory and classroom space, as well as equipment and housing.

The trip will include a tour of the Therkildsen Field Station, a ridge hike providing an overview of the restoration, a visit to the wetland, and discussions with Randy Smith (The Nature Conservancy’s Illinois River Project Director) and Logan Pappenfort (Director of Tribal Relations, Illinois State Museum).  Lunch and transportation will be provided.

Dates: Two options to choose from Monday April 14 or Tuesday April 15

Time: Departing campus at 8:45 am
