Hometown: St. Jacob, IL
Majors: Philosophy & Environmental Studies
Future Plans: Join the Peace Corps and attend law school
Francesca Butler chose the University of Illinois Springfield because she says it offers the one-on-one attention she would expect from a private liberal arts college. On campus, she is an advocate for the environment as chair of the Green Fee Committee. She is co-captain of the Dancing Stars, chair of the Leadership for Life Public-Health Committee and a student lead worker at Brookens Library. She is also a member of the Tri-Sigma Sorority, Community Garden Club, the Computer Science Club and Alternative Spring Break. “During my time at UIS I have been so impressed with the faculty and staff in both of my departments,” she said. “I am so excited about the sustainable initiatives I have been a part of in my time here.” Following graduation from UIS, she plans to join the Peace Corps and attend law school.
Leadership is lived at UIS. Every day.
