Staffing Update
New HR Employee
Please help us welcome Paige Lavin to the HR team! Paige joins the HR Staff as an Administrative Aide, providing administrative support to the office. In addition to office support, she handles departmental financial operations and tuition waivers as well.
Paige is a UIS alumni with a bachelor’s degree in Communications. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling all over and attending live concerts. She is an animal lover and currently resides with her two cats, Penne and Alfredo. HR is excited to have Paige join our team!
July Session
Employee Development Series
Please join us for the July Employee Development Series: App Café Poster Session, presented by the Center for Online Learning, Research & Service (COLRS). It is a come and go opportunity to have a little fun learning about new applications that your colleagues across campus use for productivity, lifestyle, hobbies, finance, and news/reading. There will be a special “lunch tray for apps” activity. Those who fill their trays will be added to a drawing for special door prizes. Cookies will be provided as well.
This session will be held in-person in the Student Union Ballroom on July 31, 2024, from 10:00am- 12:00pm.

June Employee of the Month
Congratulations to Brian Clevenger, the June Employee of the Month! Brian is the Associate Vice Chancellor for Enrollment and Retention Management.
“Brian has taken on many additional responsibilities over the past two years to assist with creating an environment where UIS enrollment could be increased,” his supervisor Vickie Cook said. “He has shown exceptional leadership qualities, care for staff, and collaboration with faculty and staff across the campus.”
Brian is known for his dependability and commitment as well. “The staff knows they can depend on Brian to support and assist them with their work, as I do,” Cook said. “He is dedicated to his staff and to the students at UIS.”

Training Update
New Hire Orientation
The monthly HR New Hire Orientation session has historically been held via Zoom with Kenzie Westlake on the first Wednesday of each month. Beginning in August, the orientation meeting will transition to a hybrid in-person and virtual session opportunity.
In all even-numbered months, orientation will be held in-person, and in all the odd-numbered months, it will be held via Zoom.

2024-2025 Rising Stars Program
Registration for the next Rising Stars program will begin soon. Rising Stars is an extended orientation program designed for new Academic Professional and Civil Service employees to help familiarize themselves to campus and the many acronyms, places, and faces they’ll see while employed at UIS.
Beginning in August, all eligible employees who were hired during the previous 12-month period will be invited to participate. Rising Stars will meet once per month between September and May from 9:00- 11:00am. Be on the lookout for more information from Human Resources on how to register for Rising Stars in the coming days. The program fills up quickly, so you’ll want to act fast to snag a spot!
