Emiquon 2023 A Success!

On October 18th, thirteen UIS colleagues participated in the trip to Emiquon Nature Preserve, marking its return as a Know Your U event. Participants toured the Therkildsen Field Station with Dr. Tom Rothfus to learn about the many functions of the research field station. Following the tour, we explored the public use areas of
the Nature Preserve with Dr. Rothfus, learning about the many species of fish and birds native to the area. To conclude the visit, participants were able to examine water samples while utilizing the facility’s high-quality microscopes, discovering life at the tiniest level.

We are excited for the successful return of this event and look forward to sharing this university gem with more of the UIS community in the future.

Supervisor Training

All supervisors are invited to attend HR’s annual Supervisor Training, which will be held in person on November 15th from 8:30am-5:00pm in PAC 160. HR is partnering with departments across campus, including the Career Development Center and the UIS Police Department, to offer informative and timely topics, including: Hiring & Retention Tips, Violence Prevention & De-Escalation Strategies, Career Connect, Challenging Supervisor Scenarios and more.

Lunch 'N' Learn

Human Resources is excited to be partnering with Student Affairs and the UIS Counseling Center for a Mental Health Lunch ‘n’ Learn presentation! Students, faculty, and staff are all welcome to attend this event. The focus of this one-hour luncheon surrounds U of I system and UIS campus-specific mental health resources available to our campus community. Lunch will also be provided. We hope you will join us for an informative and uplifting presentation.

Union Negotiated Pay Increases

We often receive questions from employees on when they will receive their union negotiated pay increases. When the university and the union negotiate an agreement, there is a process of finalizing the agreement in writing, ratification, and signature approval that must happen before HR staff can implement any pay increases.

AEO Inclusive Workforce Series

Join the AEO staff for sessions to create an inclusive working environment on the UIS campus! Topics include Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) accommodations and the AEO Search Manual. Below are the remaining sessions available and are held from 2:00-3:00pm on their respective dates.
