Ivan Dahlberg, the sophomore starting catcher on the University of Illinois Springfield baseball team, was selected to the 2024 American Baseball Coaches Assosication (ABCA) NCAA Division II Midwest Region All-Defensive team. Dahlberg was one of four Great Lakes Valley Conference athletes selected to the team.
The Minooka, Ill. native started 45 games for the Prairie Stars this spring, including 42 behind the plate. He finished the season with just two errors and a .994 fielding percentage.
Dahlberg was also a key element of the team's offense. He slashed .326/.503/.688 and tallied a team-high 13 home runs.
Dahlberg added to his 2024 season accolades after being selected to the GLVC First Team and ABCA/Rawlings Second Team All-Midwest Region.
The ABCA Region All-Defensive Teams are selected by the All-America committees for NCAA Div. II & III, as well as the Pacific Association. The first ever Region All-Defensive teams were selected in 2023.
