Madelyn Miller of UIS Women's Indoor Track & Field has been named the Jimmy John's Athlete of the Month for January 2025, following a record-breaking performance in the 3,000 meter run.
Miller began the season on January 18 with a new personal best of 10:08.52 and then improved by twenty seconds just a week later, setting a new UIS indoor 3,000m school record with a time of 9:48.45 at the PNC Bank Bellarmine Classic on January 24.
Her time remains the fastest in the GLVC this season and ranks No. 7 in the Midwest region. She is also the only GLVC athlete to achieve an NCAA DII provisional mark in the event. At the time of her record-setting race, she was No. 21 in NCAA DII and has since moved to No. 33.
All Jimmy John's Athlete of the Month honorees from the 2024-25 year will be recognized at the annual Night of Stars banquet at the end of the spring semester. These honorees will also be considered for the UIS Male Athlete of the Year and UIS Female Athlete of the Year awards at the conclusion of the current year of competition.
