Makenna Miller of Omaha, Nebraska, a senior at Elkhorn South High School, has been admitted to the University of Illinois Springfield for Fall Semester 2023 and awarded a $36,000 Capital Scholars Honors Program Scholarship for tuition over four years. At UIS, she is an undecided major who plans to play on the women’s soccer team.
The scholarship is awarded based on high school GPA and can be renewed for a total of four years if the student maintains college GPA requirements.
Miller plays soccer at Elkhorn South High.
“I chose UIS for both athletics and my educational career,” she said. “The women’s soccer team at UIS seems like a supportive environment that I feel will serve as a second family to me. For academics, UIS offers a program that is of great value. The smaller size will be conducive to my learning, and they have majors that align with my interests.”
Capital Scholars Honors Program scholarships are competitive and are based on high school GPA. The Honors Program is a selective undergraduate program combining high standards and emphasis on excellence with a small residential college model, enrolling only about 100 first-year students each year.
