The University of Illinois Springfield men's soccer team will continue its non-conference schedule with a home opener against Wisconsin-Parkside on Thursday at 12:00 p.m. The Prairie Stars will then start Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) play with an away game at William Jewell on Sunday at 2:30 p.m.

UIS (0-1)
The Prairie Stars opened their season on the road last Sunday against Purdue Northwest. Despite several opportunities, UIS fell to a late goal in the 89th minute. The Pride managed to score after a free kick, securing a 1-0 victory. Purdue Northwest outshot UIS 5-3, with a 3-1 edge in shots on goal. 

Wisconsin-Parkside (1-0-1)
The Rangers kicked off their season with two home games against GLVC opponents Quincy and Lewis. In their opener on Thursday, Parkside needed a late goal to secure a 1-0 win over Quincy. Eduardo Aguilera-Guillen scored the decisive goal with a low drive into the bottom left corner. Despite being outshot 17-11 by Quincy, Parkside held a 4-2 advantage in shots on goal.

On Sunday, Parkside faced a tough challenge against nationally-ranked Lewis. The Rangers took the lead in the 19th minute with a goal from Jules Peycelon. Parkside was awarded a penalty kick in the 80th minute, converted by Arturs Gorodnickis. Gorodnickis received a red card just six minutes later. Parkside pushed for a winner but settled for a 1-1 draw. They had a slight edge in shots, 12-11, and shots on goal, 6-3. 

UIS vs. Parkside History
The Prairie Stars hold a 12-9-2 historical advantage over the Rangers. In their last meeting in 2023, the teams played to a 1-1 draw in Kenosha, with UIS leading in shots. UIS last won against Parkside in 2022, while Parkside's last victory came in 2021.

William Jewell (1-0-1)
The Cardinals began their season with two games in Colorado. On Friday, they drew 1-1 with Colorado Christian. CCU took a 1-0 lead shortly after halftime, but Brian Vidal equalized for William Jewell in the 67th minute. CCU had a slight advantage in shots, 10-9, and shots on goal, 5-3.

On Sunday, William Jewell earned their first win of the season with a 2-1 victory over South Dakota Mines. SDM took an early lead in the 7th minute, but Vidal equalized for the Cardinals in the 11th minute. Zach Nichols scored the game-winning goal in the 23rd minute. William Jewell finished with a 14-12 advantage in shots and a 7-6 edge in shots on goal.

UIS holds an 8-5-1 record against William Jewell. The Prairie Stars had won six consecutive matchups before a 0-0 draw in 2023. WJC's last win against UIS was in 2015 in Springfield.
