The UIS men's track and field team delivered a strong showing at the Lewis Invite, highlighted by a new indoor school record in the 4x400-meter relay.
Meet Highlights
- Isaac Cortes and Balin Doud led the way in the mile, finishing third (4:15.63) and fourth (4:14.98), respectively. Dom Cantarini (10th, 4:19.93) and Gabe Martinez (12th, 4:20.79) also posted strong times, with Ryan Jones (14th, 4:21.33) rounding out UIS' top-five finishers in the event.
- Doud and Jones carried their momentum into the 800-meter run, placing seventh (1:56.01) and eighth (1:56.09). Cortes also clocked a solid time of 1:58.56 to take 13th.
- In the 3,000-meter race, Matt Padilla secured an eighth-place finish in 8:47.18, while Donohue (12th, 8:52.23) and Lucas Baronello (14th, 8:54.31) were close behind.
- The Lewis Invite was highlighted by a new indoor school record in the 4x400-meter relay. The team of Ryan Jones, Aidan Donohue, Balin Doud, and Isaac Cortes secured a fifth-place finish in 3:31.47, with Jones delivering an impressive closing split in his third race of the day.
- UIS also fielded two additional 4x400m relay squads, with the team of Lucas Naugle, Dom Cantarini, Ayden Groves, and DJ Dutton placing eighth (3:50.41), and Briar Nevils, Noah Tegeler, Lucas Baronello, and Nathan DeMarb finishing 10th (3:50.41).
