Dear Faculty and Staff —

I am pleased to share that Dr. Kenneth Kriz, University of Illinois Distinguished Professor of Public Administration and Director of the Institute for Illinois Public Finance, has been appointed UIS interim Vice Chancellor for Finance & Administration (Designate) effective May 16. Dr. Kriz will serve as interim VCFA, pending Board of Trustees approval, for a two-year term.

Following the completion of the search process for a permanent VCFA this spring and after reviewing campus feedback regarding this important decision, I decided to pursue another interim appointment. Since 2021, Arnold Henning has served as interim VCFA and done a commendable job helping the campus better understand our budgeting process while putting us on a new path to manage our funding. His appointment ends in June, and I thank him for his leadership and service to UIS.

Dr. Kriz has been part of the UIS community since 2018. His research on subnational debt policy, public pension fund management, economic and revenue forecasting and behavioral public finance is widely recognized, and he has played a key role at UIS in helping our university better understand budget modeling while also serving on the Campus Planning and Budget Committee and Budget Model Implementation Committee for several years. You can read more about him on the UIS Newsroom.

Please join me in congratulating Dr. Kriz on his new role at UIS!
