Dear Students, Faculty and Staff —

I am thrilled to share that Dr. Jamarco Clark has been appointed the Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs (Designate), pending Board of Trustees approval later this month. Dr. Clark’s first day at UIS will be June 12.

Dr. Clark holds a doctorate of education in student affairs administration and leadership from the University of Wisconsin La Crosse; a master’s degree in strategic leadership from Mount Mercy University; and a bachelor’s degree in educational foundations from Iowa Wesleyan University. He has served in Student Affairs leadership positions at the University of Iowa since 2020, most recently as the Assistant Dean of Students and Director of Leadership and Engagement. Prior to that, he served as the Director of Student Life at Indian Hills Community College and in student-focused leadership roles at Mount Mercy University. He also has experience working with admissions, athletics and residence life departments.

Dr. Clark’s commitment to student success, his cooperative approach to working with others, and his experience leading initiatives in the DEI space were all notable strengths identified by the search committee and the UIS campus at-large during his interview process. We are extremely fortunate to have him joining our team. Our students and our Student Affairs division will certainly benefit from his strong leadership and experience. You can read more about him on the UIS Newsroom.

Please join me in welcoming Dr. Clark (or, Dr. J, as he often is called) to UIS and the Springfield community!
