Dear Faculty and Staff —

I am happy to announce that Gabe Cagwin, PhD, will be the new vice chancellor for advancement at UIS, pending Board of Trustees approval. Gabe will serve as vice-chancellor designate until anticipated BOT action in November. He will also serve as senior vice president for the University of Illinois Foundation.

Gabe joins UIS from Chapman University, where he was the vice president of development. During his tenure, he led a significant increase in fundraising activities for the university’s $500 million capital campaign. He managed all development, annual fund, corporate and foundation relations, planned giving, communications and prospect research responsibilities. He also oversaw one of the university’s highest fundraising years.

Gabe’s extensive experience in advancement and commitment to higher education make him well-suited to lead our efforts in fundraising and alumni relations. You can read more about his experience on the UIS Newsroom website.

I look forward to welcoming Gabe to UIS. His expected first day is Sept. 30.

Thank you to the members of our search committee, led by Vice Chancellor Vickie Cook, for their hard work to help us secure an amazing new colleague to lead our advancement efforts!
