Natacia Vicenteno of Chicago, a senior at Alcott High School for the Humanities, has been admitted to the University of Illinois Springfield for Fall Semester 2023 and awarded a $8,000 Lincoln Merit Scholarship for tuition over two years. At UIS, she will major in pre-nursing.

The scholarship is awarded based on high school GPA and can be renewed for a total of two years if the student maintains college GPA requirements.

At Alcott High School, she is involved in art club and GSA-Gay Straight Alliance.

“(UIS) has the major I want to pursue and is affordable,” she said. “I also grew fond of this school after a guest speaker came to my high school junior year.”

Following her two years of pre-nursing at UIS, she plans to attend the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Nursing’s Springfield Regional Campus to earn her bachelors of science in nursing (BSN).

All undergraduate first year students are automatically eligible for Lincoln Merit Scholarships. These scholarships are automatically applied upon admission and are based solely on high school GPA. In order to receive $8,000 over two years, the student must have an unweighted GPA of 3.00-3.19.
