"Some students at the University of Illinois Springfield will soon be spending less on textbooks. UIS has been awarded a $102,668 Open Education Resources grant from the Illinois Secretary of State that aims to reduce students’ need to purchase textbooks by promoting the use of free learning materials.

Students in three UIS courses in computer science, mathematics and public administration will utilize new test banks, games, infographics, tutorials, summaries, videos, quizzes and case studies. The grant is projected to benefit around 200 students, leading to cost savings of more than $34,000, based on average textbook prices of $125 to $260 per student."
