Oluwaniifemi Emmanuel of Lagos, Nigeria, who graduated high school from The Ambassadors College Ota, has been admitted to the University of Illinois Springfield for Fall Semester 2023 and awarded a $32,000 Lincoln Merit Scholarship for tuition over four years. At UIS, he will major in computer science.

The scholarship is awarded based on high school GPA and can be renewed for a total of four years if the student maintains college GPA requirements.

At The Ambassadors College, he participated in academic competitions, such as AMC and SAMO. He was also on the planning committee for community service in his class.

He chose UIS because it is a “reputable liberal arts college” where he can learn skills in the social sciences, humanities and computer science. “If I can get into a school that can meet my need for academic variety, I want to go for the best,” he said.

All undergraduate first-year students are automatically eligible for Lincoln Merit Scholarships. These scholarships are automatically applied upon admission and are based solely on high school GPA. In order to receive $32,000 over four years, the student must have an unweighted GPA of at least 4.0.
