The UIS women's basketball team heads to Michigan for a pair of games against opponents out of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC), Lake Superior State and Ferris State.
Illinois Springfield (0-9, 0-4 GLVC)
The Prairie Stars are coming off a 77-43 loss to Parkside. UIS struggled offensively, shooting just 26.2% from the field and 25.0% from beyond the arc, while Parkside shot a dominant 54.5% overall, including 41.2% from three-point range. Kayla Rice led the team with 15 points and three steals, while Emari Doby contributed five rebounds along with her 15-point effort.
UIS averages 61.1 points per game, with Kayla Rice leading the way at 16.2 points per game, shooting 32.9% from the field and 31.3% from three. Emari Doby adds 14.3 points per game, and Diavian Mehundrew averages 13.3 points. Sahara Murphy has started every game this season alongside Rice and Doby. As a team, UIS also averages 39.6% shooting, and 32.8 rebounds per game.
Lake Superior State (2-6, 1-1 GLIAC)
LSSU most recently defeated Roosevelt 54-52, completing a dramatic fourth-quarter comeback. Grace Bradford is the Lakers' leading scorer, averaging 14.9 points per game on 45.2% shooting. Breah Golden is another offensive threat, contributing 13.4 points per game, including a solid 43.2% shooting from three-point range.
The Lakers average 52.5 points per game and 35.8 rebounds per contest.
Ferris State (7-2, 2-0 GLIAC)
Ferris State enters the weekend with a strong 7-2 record and an impressive 2-0 mark in GLIAC play. The Bulldogs most recently defeated Roosevelt 96-43, with five players scoring in double figures. Kadyn Blanchard leads Ferris State with 18.6 points per game, shooting 44.6% from the field and 36.9% from three-point range.
Ferris State averages 82.9 points per game and boasts a well-balanced offense, ranking among the top teams in the GLIAC.
