The UIS volleyball team is set for a busy weekend as they travel to Hammond, Indiana, to compete in the annual Midwest Regional Crossover. The Prairie Stars will face Ohio Dominican and Purdue Northwest on Friday, with matches at 11:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. UIS will finish the tournament on Saturday with a match against Cedarville at 11:30 a.m. The event features 38 NCAA Division II teams from the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC), Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC), and Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC).

Illinois Springfield 

  • UIS enters the weekend with an 11-5 overall record, 3-2 in GLVC play

  • The Prairie Stars lost in straight sets last Saturday to No. 22 Quincy 

  • Makenna Cox leads the Prairie Stars with 249 kills, averaging 4.15 per set, which ranks her twenty-second in Division II

  • Eirini Glynou has 207 kills, averaging 3.45 per set 

  • Erica Sledge has recorded 560 assists, averaging 9.33 per set

  • Anna Laincz, Sledge, and Glynou all have 20+ service aces this season

  • Cox leads the team with 210 digs, while Glynou is right behind with 203

  • Laincz also checks in with 168 digs, while Sledge has recorded 157 of her own

  • Kendall Johnson leads the Stars with 47 blocks, while Carly Michels has 45
     

Ohio Dominican 

  • Ohio Dominican enters the weekend with a 7-8 overall record, 3-4 in GMAC play

  • The Panthers are currently on a four-match win streak, only dropping two sets in the process

  • Lauren Lucas leads the Panthers with 151 kills, averaging 2.80 kills per set

  • Jenna Peters and Ashley Aselage are close behind with 144 and 132 kills of their own

  • Saige Avery is ODU's lead setter with 360 assists on the season, averaging 6.21 assists per set

  • Gabrielle Kirker has contributed 195 assists 

  • Saige Avery and Lauren Dinunzi both have recorded 20+ service aces this season

  • Liv Fenstermaker leads the Panthers with 146 digs, while Lauren Dinunzi is close behind with 124

  • Saige Avery and Christen Tarter also have 100+ digs this season

  • Grace Zinchuk leads ODU with 50 blocks on the season, while Bailey Christiansen has 41 of her own
     

Purdue Northwest

  • Purdue Northwest enters the weekend with a 4-11 overall record, 2-6 in GLIAC

  • The Pride went 1-1 last weekend in home conference matches, defeating Wayne State but losing to No. 15 Grand Valley State

  • Arra Cottrell leads the Pride with 180 kills on the season, averaging 3.27 kills per set

  • Marina Gronkiewicz and Anika Huelskamp are the only two other players with 100+ kills

  • Both Olivia Brooke and Marina Gronkiewicz take turns setting for PNW, as Brooke has 270 assists and Gronkiewicz is right behind with 224

  • Anika Huelskamp is the team's only player with 20 or more service aces, checking in with exactly 20

  • Livia Thomsen leads the Pride with 219 digs

  • Marina Gronkiewicz and Olivia Brooke are the only two other members of the team with more than 100 digs on the season, with Gronkiewicz registering 137 and Brooke recording 120

  • Kennedy Rowzee is the team's far and away leader in blocks, with 45 so far this season
     

Cedarville

  • Cedarville enters the weekend with a 7-6 overall record, 4-3 in GMAC play

  • The Yellow Jackets earned a win last weekend against Kentucky Wesleyan

  • Madelyn Hensley leads the Yellow Jackets with 188 kills, averaging 3.92 kills per set

  • Cassi Shields is the only other Yellow Jacket with 100+ kills, recording 137 kills for an average of 2.85 kills per set

  • Kaley Matney is CU's setter, checking in with 476 assists on the season, averaging 9.92 assists per set

  • Talia Felton leads the team in service aces, having recorded 21 so far

  • Alivia Rutt and Greta Blakemore are the only two Yellow Jackets in triple figures in digs, with Rutt having 162 and Blakemore having 128

  • Haley Koch leads Cedarville with 46 blocks, while Janae Heegaard has 44
