International student Rory Carlson chose the University of Illinois Springfield because he loved the campus, its great academic programs and wanted to play NCAA Division II men’s soccer. During the 2018 season, he tied for third among UIS Division II single-season leaders with four assists and started in 15 matches. On campus, Carlson is a member of the Capital Scholars Honors Program and the Chemistry Club. He says he loves the UIS campus because “it’s beautiful, clean and not too big.” Following graduation from UIS, he plans to get a job or internship in a still to be determined field.
