Spring Season Successes
SPRINGFIELD, IL. (February 28, 2019) – The UIS Speech and Debate Team concluded the regular season by traveling to two additional tournaments this spring.
In January, the team traveled to Webster University to take part in the Gorlok Gala speech and debate tournament. The Gorlok Gala is one of the largest regular season tournaments in the country and featured competition from as far away as Idaho, California, and Pennsylvania. Junior Cameron Rexroad earned an excellent award in persuasive speaking.
In February, the team returned to Webster University for the Missouri Association of Forensic Activities speech and debate tournament. The team faced off against some of the strongest teams in our region and learned a great deal in preparation for nationals. This tournament also featured the largest squad of the season thus far with six students representing UIS at the competition.
