Stephanie Matheu is involved both on and off the University of Illinois Springfield campus. She is a specialist in U.S. Army Reserves, works full-time off campus, is a member of the UIS Students Transitioning for Academic Retention and Success (STARS) Program and is a former UIS Prairie Stars cheerleader. She says she chose UIS because of the smaller class sizes and one-on-one attention from professors. Following graduation, she plans to either enroll in the UIS Graduate Public Service Internship Program while earning her master’s degree, go to Army officer school or start working in Florida.
