TEDx UofISpringfield is seeking nominations for Springfield-area speakers for their second annual event on March 5, 2022. The deadline to submit a speaker application is Nov. 6 at 11:59 p.m.

TEDxUofISpringfield is a student-run event. Organizers are looking for speakers ranging in backgrounds, experience and interests. Selected speakers will be provided with a speaking mentor to help them prepare their talk and presentation for the big day when they speak live.

Those interested in delivering a TEDx style presentation will be required to film and upload a brief one minute “Topic Introduction Video” to let organizers know what they would like to talk about. The video should include an introduction/overview of the topic and why this topic is important to the applicant. Those interested can apply and submit their video at go.uis.edu/TEDxApplication.

Last year’s TEDx UofISpringfield featured nine speakers giving a 10-minute talk. Their video presentations can be found at tedxuofispringfield.com/speakers. Students hope the TEDx will impact both the UIS and Springfield communities by creating an event where everyone can share their thoughts in an effort to bring both communities together.

TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TED Talks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.
