REMINDER: Faculty will no longer be able to access any Turnitin reports after July 27. Please review the information below.

COLRS and ITS are excited to announce that we will be transitioning to Copyleaks as our plagiarism and AI content detection tool.

Due to the increasing cost of licensing Turnitin, as well as their decision to charge extra for AI detection tools, we began researching alternatives that might better fit the needs of UIS. We hosted a pilot for Copyleaks with a group of 15 faculty during the spring semester. We also held an open lab for faculty who did not volunteer for the pilot in April. The results of the pilot and open lab indicated that Copyleaks is a good fit for UIS.

Our Copyleaks contract begins August 1. Unfortunately, due to contract timelines, there will be a short gap in access to a plagiarism detection service as our Turnitin contract will end on July 27, the last day of the summer semester. Please note that you will no longer be able to access any Turnitin reports after July 27. For those of you teaching this summer, this means that you will need to adjust due dates accordingly for any Turnitin assignments so that you have time to review the reports before July 27.

Training and support resources for Copyleaks will be available in August.
