"The University of Illinois Springfield men's basketball team has found a ton of success early in the season. The Prairie Stars are 8-3 (3-1), ranked second in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, ranked third in the D2SIDA Midwest Regional poll and is receiving votes in the national poll as well.
'We're not as surprised I think as everybody else in our start,' UIS men's basketball head coach Matt Brock said. 'We've put in the work and these guys have worked extremely hard starting last spring.'
There are a few factors in this season's success. The team is more experienced and the eight returners have played a ton for the Prairie Stars in the past few years."
