The UIS men's soccer team fought to the end in the GLVC quarterfinals but ultimately fell 3-2 in overtime to Maryville on Sunday. In a tightly contested match, the Prairie Stars equalized twice, only to have the game decided by a sudden victory goal from the Saints.
Head Coach Graham Shaw expressed his pride in the team's effort and resilience, especially among the seniors in their final match. "Unfortunately, our season ended in the cruelest of ways on a sudden victory goal," Shaw said. "But I couldn't be more proud of the players and the staff in today's game. They gave everything and came up just a bit short. I feel for the seniors because this is a hard ending, our returning group will use this as a learning experience."
