The UIS men's soccer team concluded their regular season with a 2-1 loss against Lewis on Sunday afternoon at Kiwanis Stadium. UIS now holds a 5-7-5 overall record and a 5-4-5 record in GLVC play, while Lewis finishes at 9-2-7 and 9-1-4 in conference action.

  • Lewis controlled much of the early tempo, with Mikey Revell scoring the first goal in the 16th minute off an assist from Arturs Gorodnickis
  • UIS worked hard to establish their own rhythm but faced a relentless Lewis midfield
  • In the 29th minute, Makonnen Stampley extended the Lewis lead with a goal assisted by Revell
  • UIS defender Noah Brill sent a driven cross into the Lewis box, where a Lewis defender, attempting to clear, unintentionally redirected it into their own net, bringing UIS within a goal at 2-1 
  • UIS entered the second half eager to equalize, increasing their offensive intensity. The Prairie Stars outshot Lewis in the latter half, including a notable attempt in the 66th minute when Noah Brill's strike was saved by Lewis goalkeeper Sebastian Doppelhofer
  • Further attempts by Furkan Yalcin in the 81st minute and Josh Conrad in the 83rd minute were denied by Lewis, who clinched the GLVC regular season title upon the end of the game
