The University of Illinois Springfield has named Drew Schlosser assistant vice chancellor for human resources, effective Jan. 16.

Schlosser brings over a decade of experience in higher education human resources, specializing in labor and employee relations. He currently serves as the Associate Director of Employee Relations & HR for the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign Facilities and Services Office, where he oversees human resources operations for more than 1,400 employees.

Prior to his current role, Schlosser held human resources leadership positions at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign’s College of Veterinary Medicine and Illinois Fire Service Institute, where he directed recruitment, payroll, performance management and labor relations initiatives for large, multi-department operations.

“Drew’s deep experience in human resources and proven leadership make him a valuable addition to UIS,” said Kenneth Kriz, UIS interim vice chancellor for finance and administration. “We look forward to his contributions as we continue to refine our processes and strengthen our organizational efficiency.”

Schlosser holds a bachelor’s degree in general studies from Eastern Illinois University, a master’s degree in human services from UIS and is pursuing a juris doctor degree at Saint Francis School of Law. He also holds professional certifications in leadership and human resources, including the Society for Human Resource Management's People Manager Qualification (SHRM-PMQ).

In his new role, Schlosser will oversee human resources operations at UIS, including strategic planning, recruitment, professional development and employee relations.
