The University of Illinois Springfield is excited to announce its upcoming in-person orientation event for newly admitted transfer and graduate students, titled “Taking Care of Business.” This event is designed to provide essential resources and support to ensure a smooth transition to campus life.

The session will take place from 4-6:30 p.m. Thursday, June 1 in the UIS Public Affairs Center and is ideal for students taking summer classes.

During the “Taking Care of Business” event, admitted students will have the opportunity to tour the campus, connect with staff members from various departments and learn about the diverse range of resources available at UIS. The event will feature engaging presentations on transitioning to UIS, financial assistance and campus involvement. Participants will also have the chance to have their questions answered by knowledgeable staff members.

“We are thrilled to welcome our new transfer and graduate students to UIS,” said Lisa McGuire, director of new student orientation and parent relations. “This event serves as a valuable platform for students to familiarize themselves with our campus community, access important resources and receive guidance that will contribute to their overall success at UIS.”

The “Taking Care of Business” event is free to attend and is open to all admitted transfer and graduate students. A second session will be held from 4-6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 24 in the UIS Public Affairs Center. This session is ideal for students enrolling in fall classes.

Admitted students can register for the event by visiting their admission status page. For more information on the orientation events, students are encouraged to visit the orientation website.

“UIS extends a warm welcome to all new transfer and graduate students, and the university community is excited to support their academic journey and overall success,” McGuire said.
