The UIS Athletic Department is excited to announce the addition of Scottie Moler as the new Associate Athletic Director for Compliance. Moler will play a pivotal role in ensuring that UIS adheres to NCAA Division II, Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC), and UIS policies, while fostering a positive and inclusive environment for student-athletes.
"We are excited to welcome Scottie to the Prairie Star team," said director of athletics Mike Hermann. "He brings a depth of experience at the Division I and II level that will enable him to develop an outstanding compliance program at UIS. Plus, with his well-rounded background, I am confident that he will be able to contribute in many other ways to our athletics program.
"I want to thank senior associate director of athletics Nicole Hager and assistant athletics director for student-athlete success Amy Pruitt for both coordinating this search process that resulted in an outstanding candidate and for stepping up to fulfill the critical compliance duties over the past three months."
Moler joins UIS from his most recent role at the University of Iowa, where he brought extensive experience in NCAA compliance, athletic administration, and student-athlete welfare. His background includes roles in compliance and academic coordination at institutions including Missouri Western State, Angelo State, and Montana State. Moler earned a master's degree in education, specializing in coaching, sport, recreation, and fitness administration from Angelo State University, where he developed strong expertise in NCAA regulations, academic progress tracking, and student-athlete development. He also holds a bachelor's degree in recreation, sport, and park administration from Missouri State University.
"I am very excited to join the UIS athletics staff and return to the NCAA Division II level of college athletics. This position with UIS is a great opportunity to grow professionally within college athletics and grow the proactive rules education program with the coaches, staff, and others closely involved with athletics. I have spent time working with great compliance professionals in other positions prior to this role, and look forward to being a great resource for our coaches, staff, and student-athletes. I am thankful for the opportunity Mike and the athletics staff have provided to be a part of UIS' growth as an NCAA Division II athletics program."
At UIS, Moler will lead the implementation, education and enforcement of compliance policies across all intercollegiate sports, supervise institutional controls, and manage waiver requests, appeals, and eligibility certifications. His duties also include educating student-athletes, coaches, and staff on the latest NCAA legislation and helping ensure the overall wellness and academic progress of student-athletes.
As Moler steps into his new role, UIS Athletics looks forward to his leadership in maintaining high standards of compliance and student-athlete support.
