The UIS women's soccer team secured a 1-0 victory over the Truman State Bulldogs at Kiwanis Stadium on Friday night. The win boosted UIS to 2-1-2 overall and 2-0-0 in the conference, while TSU fell to 1-2-2 overall and 0-1-1 in conference play.

It was the team's first win at Kiwanis Stadium under the leadership of first-year head coach Scott Myers. "I give credit to Truman State for pushing us to play our best 90 minutes of the young season," said Myers. "I'm proud of our student-athletes for their hard work and growth. We played our most complete game and showed potential. I'm especially happy for Katelynn Ward for scoring her first goal and for Allison Mirimanian on her second shutout in as many games. After battling William Jewell in our opener, it's great to get our first home victory.

While we're proud of our start, we know there's more to improve as we continue through the GLVC. We have a quick turnaround and must be at our best to face Quincy on Sunday, a well-coached team with talented players who battle for a full 90 minutes."

Game Recap
  • UIS started strong, dominating possession and generating numerous scoring opportunities in the first half
