The UIS women's soccer team earned a 2-0 victory over the University of Indianapolis on Friday night, improving to 6-6-3, 6-5-1 against GLVC opponents.

"The whole team worked incredibly hard tonight because we knew we needed to earn as many points as possible in these next few games," said goalkeeper Allison Mirimanian. "Our defense kept the other team on lockdown the entire game, and our offense was fearless in their attack, giving it 110%. That effort showed in the end."

Game Summary
  • UIS looked to take early command, with Dani Auble getting a shot on goal in the second minute, but it was saved by UIndy's Jenna Taghikhani. Throughout the first half, the Prairie Stars created several chances but faced a resolute UIndy defense
  • As the half progressed, UIndy also threatened, with Stephanie Brady and Mia Winters both testing UIS goalkeeper Allison Mirimanian, who made crucial saves to keep the game scoreless

  • Despite several opportunities, including a corner kick by UIS in the 29th minute, the teams went into halftime deadlocked at 0-0
  • The game remained tightly contested until Katelynn Ward added a goal in the 88th minute, converting a fast break opportunity. This insurance goal showcased UIS' ability to capitalize on their offensive chances, putting the game out of reach for UIndy
  • Defensively, UIS was steadfast, limiting UIndy's scoring opportunities. Goalkeeper Allison Mirimanian recorded five saves, ensuring a clean sheet and solidifying her presence in goal

"This was a massive win for the ladies tonight! I'm proud of their team effort and focus throughout. Though we started sluggish, we adapted and found our attacking space against a quality UIndy side. Our strong defensive effort in the second half earned us a conference shutout. Now, we'll get back to work to prepare for the final weekend and aim for a spot in the conference playoffs," said head coach Scott Myers.
