The UIS volleyball team battled through five sets against Cedarville on Saturday, ultimately losing a hard-fought match 3-2 to close out the Midwest Region Crossover. With this result, UIS now stands at 13-6 overall.

Match Recap
  • Set 1: The match began evenly, but Cedarville quickly took the lead, going up 11-5 after a five-point run. UIS remained competitive, eventually overtaking the Yellow Jackets, aided by five mid-set kills from Eirini Glynou. The rest of the set was closely contested, but UIS ultimately prevailed, winning 25-23
  • Set 2: Cedarville came out with renewed energy, tightening their defense and enhancing their offensive output. The teams exchanged points, but Cedarville managed to pull ahead, securing the set 25-22 with critical contributions from Cassi Shields and Madelyn Hensley
  • Set 3: Building on their momentum, Cedarville took control of the set as UIS struggled with inconsistency. The Prairie Stars fell 25-19, as Cedarville's improved blocking effectively stifled the UIS attack
  • Set 4: UIS rallied in the fourth set, regaining their composure with key contributions from Makenna Cox and Eirini Glynou. UIS led for most of the set, ultimately winning 25-23 and forcing a decisive fifth set
  • Set 5: The final set was tightly contested, with the teams tied at 7-7 before Cedarville launched a critical five-point run. UIS stayed within two points but ultimately dropped the set 15-13, concluding the match in favor of Cedarville
  • Setter Erica Sledge delivered an impressive performance, totaling 55 assists in the match. This achievement places her among the UIS top-five for single-game assists, tying for 4th with JoAnna Hoffman and Becca Blakeley
  • Makenna Cox led the UIS team with an impressive 26 kills over five sets, boasting an attack percentage of .333 and contributing 14 digs
  • Eirini Glynou followed closely with 20 kills and an attack percentage of .169, adding 6 digs
  • Carly Michels also had a strong performance, registering 13 kills with a notable attack percentage of .375, alongside 3 digs
