The UIS basketball teams return to action after the holiday break for their first games of 2025. The women's basketball team hosts Saint Ambrose on Thursday before both teams travel to Indianapolis to resume conference play on Sunday. All of this week's games will be streamed live on the GLVC Sports Network.

Thursday, Jan. 2
6:00 p.m. - Women's Basketball vs. Saint Ambrose
The UIS women's basketball team (0-11, 0-4 GLVC) resumes its season against NCAA Division III opponent Saint Ambrose (3-8, 1-3 CCAC) at TRAC. Saint Ambrose, nicknamed the Fighting Bees, has earned wins this season against Lawrence Tech, William Penn (IA), and Judson. Historically, SAU holds an 8-0 advantage over UIS, with all previous matchups occurring between 2000 and 2010. Before the holiday break, the Prairie Stars fell 63-56 to Lake Superior State and 82-55 to Ferris State. 

Sunday, Jan. 5
12:00 p.m. Central (1:00 p.m. Eastern) - Women's Basketball at Indianapolis
The Prairie Stars hit the road to face the Indianapolis Greyhounds (2-9, 0-3 GLVC) in a conference matchup. UIS won last season's game 101-96 at TRAC but trails in the all-time series 12-5. This season, UIndy's two victories came against Saint Mary-of-the-Woods and Purdue Northwest, both in close contests.

2:30 p.m. Central (3:30 p.m. Eastern) - Men's Basketball at Indianapolis
The UIS men's basketball team (6-6, 1-3 GLVC) also heads to Indianapolis to take on the Greyhounds (6-5, 0-3 GLVC). Both teams secured overtime victories against Grand Valley State before the winter break. UIndy enters the game fresh off an 81-79 win over No. 19 Hillsdale. In 18 clashes since 2004, UIndy leads UIS 15-3, with the last pair of UIS wins coming early in 2020. 

A Look Ahead
The Prairie Stars return to TRAC on Jan. 9 for a GLVC doubleheader against Truman State. They will then host Quincy on Saturday, Jan. 11, for the BoS Rivalry Cup on Youth Day. 

The indoor track & field season kicks off on Jan. 17, followed by the women's tennis team's first exhibition match on Jan. 18. Both the men's and women's tennis teams will host SWIC for their home-opening scrimmage on Jan. 25.
