Step-by-Step Guide to Creating an Event on Orbit

Are you planning an event and want to share it with your colleagues? Orbit makes it easy for employees to create and promote their own events. Follow these simple steps to list your event on Orbit.

  1. Log In: Start by logging in to the website at uis.edu/login.
  2. Create Content: Once logged in, click on the "Create Content" button.
  3. Select Event: From the options available, select "Event."
  4. Add Event Details:
    • Title: Enter a catchy and descriptive title for your event.
    • Event Description: Provide a detailed description of your event. Include all the necessary information that attendees need to know.
    • Date(s) and Time(s): Enter the date(s) and time(s) for your event.
    • Location: Specify the location where the event will take place.
  5. Event Type:
    • Under "Event Type," select "Employee" to indicate that this event is for employees.
    • You can also select any other categories that further describe your event. To highlight multiple categories, hold down the shift key while selecting.
  6. Hosting Department: Select the department that is hosting the event.
  7. Add Visuals: If you have any visuals, such as images or flyers, add them to help market your event. Visuals can make your event more appealing and informative.
  8. Identify Event Type: Specify whether your event is online, on-campus, other, or a combination of these options.
  9. Save: Once you have filled in all the details, click "Save" to publish your event on Orbit.

Already have an event on the UIS calendar and want to add it to Orbit, too?

If you have already created an event on the UIS calendar, you can amend your calendar listing to add it to Orbit without creating a separate event. Under "Event Type," simply hold down the shift key and select "employee" in addition to any other event types already highlighted. This will make your event appear on Orbit.
