The Central Illinois Blood Center was founded in 1971 to serve as the link between people willing to give blood and those who need it. The Central Illinois Community Blood Center (CICBC) Scholarship was established for junior and senior full-time students enrolled in the Clinical Laboratory Science Program at UIS. Amid a dramatic nation-wide shortage, the CIBC Student Aid are designed to encourage qualified students to pursue careers as blood banking and transfusion medicine technologists.
