This fund is used to supplement the funding of one (or more) faculty position at UIS, to be known as the "James J. Stukel Presidential Professorship at the University of Illinois at Springfield" and to provide for the payment of certain expenses in connection with the Professorship. The University of Illinois shall appoint and designate the individual who will hold and occupy the Professorship. It is expected that the initial appointment will be in the College of Education. The individual selected for appointment shall have achieved significant stature in research and scholarship. The Chancellor or designee, shall coordinate the process for appointing the individual to hold the Professorship. Upon the recommendation of the Provost and the approval of the Chancellor, the University of Illinois will appoint and designate the individual who will hold and occupy the Professorship according to University guidelines. The net income for the fund shall not relieve the University of Illinois from providing at least the established minimum salary for professors to any holder of the Professorship, but may be used to supplement such salary and to provide additional support for the holder of the Professorship, in such amounts as the University of Illinois may determine from time to time. In addition, the net income from the Fund may be used to pay expenses for identification and recruitment of appointees or prospective appointees to the Professorship; moving expenses of the Professorship appointee; expenses for appropriate research conducted by the current Professorship appointee; secretarial services and other administrative assistance for the current Professorship appointee; investiture expenses, and work-related equipment, supplies, and travel allowances of the current Professorship appointee, all as may be determined and approved from time to time by the University of Illinois.
