In an effort to convey the pride and passion felt for the institution of UIS, Emeritus Faculty Malcolm Levin established the Cynthia S. Levin Memorial Scholarship in memory of his wife who, along with himself, wanted to make a difference in the lives of students. Before her death in 1996 at age 42, Mrs. Levin was executive director of the Dana-Thomas House Foundation in Springfield, a Frank Lloyd-Wright architectural marvel. The scholarship is for graduate students pursuing a degree in liberal arts & sciences. Preference is given to non-traditional females aged 30 and over who have had their education interrupted. Applicants must also be actively engaged in serving society.
