Maurice W. Scott was a distinguished Springfield lawyer, who began his legal career working for the Taxpayers Federation and drafting tax legislation for members of the Illinois General Assembly. He also wrote guidebooks on county law. In 1969, Mr. Scott was elected to the Sixth Illinois Constitutional Convention. The Maurice W. Scott Scholarship in Public Affairs is awarded to an outstanding community college transfer student seeking a degree in public affairs.
