Dr. Rose Marie Roach is the former UIS (then Sangamon State University) Associate Dean of Students. Robert C. Roach was a well-known businessman and avid Sangamon State University soccer fan before his sudden death in November of 1978. Originally the Robert C. Roach Memorial Scholarship–and Sangamon State's first endowed scholarship–the scholarship has now been renamed to include both Rose Marie and Robert's names. This scholarship is for women in graduate school who have made a significant difference in their community. This may be determined through their volunteer work, development of charitable or cultural programs, or leadership in non-profit, philanthropic organizations.
