In a very public testament of her strength, character and influence as a woman, Sandra G. Hockenyos' children and spouse chose to honor her in a way that helped other students achieve their dreams. Established in 1996, the Sandra G. Hockenyos Scholarship awards financial assistance to a mature individual who has had their education interrupted. As a former and two-term president of the American Association for University Women, Ms. Hockenyos also has a scholarship established in her honor for achievements there. The award is available to female students of Sangamon County in good academic standing who are enrolled for a minimum of eight hours in any campus program.
