The William H. Chamberlain Memorial Scholarship was established in 1974 in memory of former circuit judge, William H. Chamberlain, a junior college graduate who attended SSU and also served as Parliamentarian to the Speaker of the House, Assistant to the Governor and Secretary of State. Awards are given to outstanding community college students transferring to UIS. Preference is given to applicants with financial need who have an interest in public service and student or community activities.
